The Runaway Bride by Jody Hedlund | Review

I recently received the newly released, book from Jody Hedlund, The Runaway Bride.  This is Book 2 in the Bride Ships series.  I have not read book 1, but that was fine as you can read this book without reading the first.  I person ally prefer reading them in order, but sometimes you just come in somewhere in the middle.

The story begins with a Bride ship arriving in British Columbia with many woman who are looking for the opportunity to find a husband.  Arabella Lawrence is one such woman.  She is haunted by incidents in her past and must overcome them before she can ever give her heart to another man.  She attracts two very different suitors, the first one being Lieutenant Richard Drummond.  He is considered a proper husband for Arabella and she seems drawn to him.  At the same time she meets Peter Kelly the town's baker who is definitely below her status level.  Even as she gets to know Peter, she often withdraws in other's presence, because he is not considered proper for her.  She ends up discovering a starving child, a native to the area, who most of the townspeople look down on.  Arabella must make the right choice and decide how far she is willing to go to help the child.

Be sure to get the book for yourself to find out what happens.

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
