Interview With Rachel Boston | Moments With Mercy

Mercy: Can you share a little bit about yourself
Rachel: I was born and raised on a mountain in Tennessee. I have two brothers and we grew up hiking and camping and spent a lot of time in nature. I started singing in the church choir when I was 7 and then moved to NYC when I was 17. I started at NYU and got really involved in theater and that led to moving to Los Angeles to start a TV series called American Dreams. I’m now based in Los Angeles and travel all over for work.

Mercy: If you could play a role in any movie from the past, who would it be?
Rachel: Oh wow, any role. First coming to mind is Mary Hatch in It’s a Wonderful Life. I watch that with my family every year, and I love it. I just adore her.

Mercy: Who are some of your acting influences?
Rachel: My grandmother isn’t an actress but she’s 101 and still traveling the world and is one of the deepest inspirations of my life. I’m inspired by so many women creating their own content right now. Creating shows that tell a story from their own point of view and bringing such truth to their experience. And I watch a lot of comedies. I’m in a place where I just want to laugh. And Meryl Streep. Doesn’t everyone say Meryl Streep? She’s just pure magic on screen.

Mercy: What is the most rewarding aspect of being an actress?
Rachel: Connecting with people.  I was on a series called Witches of East End for a few years and people would come up to me in airports with tears in their eyes about how one story helped them let go of something painful or open up to a new experience. It was beautiful to connect with people I didn’t know on that level. My hope is always to help people see and feel that they are not alone.

Mercy: What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
Rachel: Well ... I’ve been through a lot and somehow my faith has always pulled me through. I also love road trips. I go on a lot of road trips. Wait, that’s two things 😂

Mercy: If your life was a movie what would the title be?
Rachel: Oh, that’s fun. Maybe “Mountain Girl” - a girl from a mountain navigating life and discovering deeper truths about life and love and what really brings joy. And making a lot of mistakes but it would be a comedy. Or I hope it’s a comedy. There’s definitely a rainbow and a happily ever after ... I hope.

Mercy: Are there any Hallmark movies you’ve done that you’d like to do a sequel to?
Rachel: The Last Bridesmaid

Mercy: What do you like to do in your free time?
Rachel: I hike a lot, I just started a class that I love with Toni Trucks who is an amazing goddess of a woman I’m working with on Seal Team, I read, I write, I develop new scripts and stories. And I travel.

Mercy: Any upcoming projects you can share about?
Rachel: I’m working on Seal Team at the moment and getting excited for the next adventure.

Mercy: Is there a quote/verse/poem that has inspired you, that you could share?
Rachel: Jeremiah 29:11 has always been one that resonated with me throughout my life. Trusting the path and that God has a plan even in the most challenging times. And my grandpa used to say, “If you have your health you have everything.” He’s right.

Keep Up With Rachel-
