The Heart of Recovery by Deborah and David Beddoe

If you have a family member or friend who is caught up in addiction, this might be a book you need to read.  Written by Deborah and David Beddoe, you will find information from statistics, research, personal experience and others who have gone through addiction.  The back of the book states that: "America is the most medicated country in the world.  More than 1.7 million Americans are struggling with addiction to painkillers, fueling the opioid crisis that claims more than 140 lives a day."  To me those numbers are amazing.

There is a whole chapter on Reviving Compassion.  One one Marriage Recovery and Friendship Recovery.  They also bring up the church's role in recovery from addiction.

The authors mention that they are not counselors or therapists, but are just sharing what has worked for them, both in their own lives and in the ministry, along with what they have learned.  Both authors have worked in addiction outreach ministry.
