My Dear Miss Dupre | Review

Interview With Cardi Wong

Mercy: Can you share a little of what you've been up to since we last chatted?
Cardi: It’s been so fun since we last chatted!! I got a chance to go to LA to find a US agent, and I found a good match. I was also up for a marvel movie at a certain point. It’s been pretty busy, and I’m so excited for the new year.

Mercy: What is the most rewarding part of being an actor?
Cardi: The best part is the interactions you have. I love when people see my work and are genuinely happy with it. Its worth all the long nights wondering if you’re cut out for this business. I love my Hallmark friends, they have been so kind to me. It’s my passion, and I'll continue pursing it with my whole heart.

Mercy: What was one of your favorite parts of filming Always And Forever Christmas? Can you share a little bit about the movie?
Cardi: I had so much fun learning from Beth Broderick. She was so delightful, and always kept our spirits up. I love travelling for work, so I got to go back to Winnipeg for this project, and I met up with some old friends from when I did One Winter Proposal. I play a character named Randall, and he helps with the Christmas shop. He also has a huge crush on a girl named Rose. If you look carefully at one of my costumes, its a white button up with a bunch of roses on it. It was so so cute, and Stephanie Sy, who plays Rose, has become a close friend of mine, and I hope we get to work together on more projects.

Mercy: Can you share a little bit about your role in Are You Afraid Of The Dark?
Cardi: Are you Afraid of the Dark is easily one of my favourite projects to date. It was the first time that I appeared in more than one episode. I worked a lot with younger actors, and I learned so much from them. At their age, I was NOT as mature. I keep in touch with them, and if *fingers crossed* season 2 happens, I'd be over the moon. I play a character named Hideo Yamato, he’s a cop in town, and also an older brother to one of the Midnight Society. It was an incredible film experience.

Mercy: Any upcoming projects you can share about?
Cardi: No upcoming projects yet, but that’s the nature off this business. Theres no certainty. Ebbs and flows. Although I have to say, with each project I'm learning more and more, and I'm just so excited to see what 2020 has to offer.

Mercy: What is your favorite Christmas tradition/memory?
Cardi: My favourite memory is just all the family dinners. Theres always so much yummy food with the people you hold near and dear, what’s not to like?

Mercy: Favorite Christmas song?
Cardi: I LOVE LOVE LOVE “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Frank Sinatra. It’s so wholesome. Also was used in Road to Christmas, so you can’t go wrong.

Mercy: Favorite Christmas movie?
Cardi: Favourite Christmas movie is NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I love it. It’s the only movie where you can also argue that its a Halloween movie.

Mercy: White or green Christmas?
Cardi: White. Nothing more calming and serene than the first snowfall on a quiet night. It’s pure bliss.
