Ava Grace Cooper chats her role of Opal on When Calls The Heart and more!

Anyone else remember back in 2016 when this adorable and talented little girl named Opal appeared on When Calls the Heart?  Yeah, me too!  I have to admit, she quickly became a highlight of the show for my entire family.

Ava, while being one of the youngest members of the cast, immediately stole my heart and is one of my favorites to watch.  Even to the point of watching another Hallmark movie she's in just because I know that she is part of the supporting cast.  This young lady is immensely popular and talented at what she does, and still remains a kind, sweet girl unchanged by "fame".  Since I'm sure you are just as excited as I am, lets get started!

Mercy: What started your interest in acting?
Ava: Well, I have always loved to perform in some way.  I have been dancing since I was 2 and I
always liked to dress up and pretend I was a character from TV. Also, my brother, Christian Cooper has been an actor since he was really young so watching him on set made me want to do it even more.  I started my first movie when I was 5 years old.

Mercy: How did you get the role of Opal?
Ava: I got the role of Opal by going for an audition. The were actually looking for someone a little bit older than me but when I went into the room for the second audition (call back) they said they knew I was their Opal 🙂

Mercy: How are you most like and unlike Opal?
Ava: I think I am quite a bit like Opal as I love animals and I really like to share and make people smile. I also really love Erin, just like Opal really loves Mrs. Thornton. I also, have my own Brownie Bear at home too.

Mercy: If you could do a movie with any actor/actress of your choice who would it be?
Ava: That's a tough question as I would love to work with a few different people but if I had to choose one of each I would love to do a movie with Zac Efron for an actor as I love The Greatest Showman and if I could do a movie with an actress it would probably be Zendaya. I am a real fan of The Greatest Showman and I'm actually doing Silks now.

Mercy: What has been your favorite scene of playing Opal?
Ava: That's a hard question as I have really loved doing quite a few of the scenes over the past 4 Seasons.  I think my favourite scene or scenes of all would be the ones where I stayed with Mrs. Thornton when my parents went away in Season 4.

Mercy: What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
Ava: One thing that most people don't know about me is that I love to sing and I sing all the time at home.

Mercy: Any upcoming projects you can share with us?
Ava: I have been doing a lot of different auditions lately so you never know what is going to come up for 2019 but you can watch me in this season 6 of When Calls The Heart.  There are some really fun scenes coming your way. 🙂
