Mercy: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Morgan: I grew up in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia with my parents and younger sister. I danced competitively all through school until I moved to Toronto to attend a triple threat (singing, dancing, acting) academy. And I’ve been in Toronto since!

Mercy: What sparked your interest in acting?
Morgan: It wasn’t until my last year of high school when I went to New York with my dance studio and saw my first broadway show.  I hadn’t had a ton of exposure to plays or movies/TV beyond “So You Think You Can Dance” so the idea of becoming an actor had never really crossed my mind before that. But after that trip I talked to my teacher about Randolph College for the Performing Arts, where she had attended, and a couple months later I auditioned for the program and magically got in! Once I was training there it became clear that maybe acting was going to be the thing for me!

Mercy: You've done contemporary, futuristic (Star Trek!) and now historical dramatic work.  Which period of costuming was easiest for creating your character?
Morgan: I loved working with the costuming on both Star Trek and WCTH, both helped getting into the character that much easier. With Star Trek I was playing this really tough, aggressive character and they had me in all leather with a ton of layers and this gorgeous long black wig. And really, that did most of the work! With WCTH, the way the skirts and coats are made you have to have great posture and right away I found that helped me to find Lillian’s strength and poise.

Mercy: What are you looking forward to most about working with Hallmark?
Morgan: It feels like there’s such a great community within the Hallmark world and I’m so excited to become a part of that!

Mercy: How did you get the role of Lillian and can you tell us a little bit about your character?
Morgan: I auditioned for the role in Toronto and then about a week later they called me in to do a Skype callback with Alfonso Moreno, our showrunner, and Neill Fearnley, who was directing the WCTH Christmas Movie. About 3 days later I found out I booked the role and a couple days after
that I was on a plane to Vancouver!   Lillian is the older sister to Grace and the two of them have set out to start their own orphanage in a nearby town. Lillian is definitely the more cautious of the two sisters and takes on a lot of responsibility. She has a bit of a harder time letting her guard down around new people but when she does, it’s clear that she has a giant heart underneath.

Mercy: Without any spoilers can you tell us about When Hope Calls?
Morgan: When Hope Calls will be about Lillian and Grace and the new orphanage they open. It will be about the two sisters finding their relationship together as family and how they uniquely help each other to become even more wonderful versions of themselves. And OF COURSE, there shall be some romance sprinkled in there!

Mercy: Who is an actor or actress you’d like to work with?
Morgan: It would be such a dream to work with Saoirse Ronan. I think she is just an incredible actor and finds such depth to all her characters. I love the subtly she brings to her performance and she just seems like she would be a lovely and humble person to be around!

Mercy: What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Morgan: Every year we go into the bush and chop down a real Christmas tree! It always tends to be more of a “Charlie Brown” tree though hehehe. But we make a whole day of it - tobogganing if there’s a hill around, have a fire, some hot dogs and hot chocolate, and then mosey back home. It’s magical.

Mercy: What advice would you give an aspiring actor/actress?
Morgan:  It can be a harsh industry at times and I think the only way to get through the tough spots is to remember why you love acting and have that be your driving force. And if this is what you’ve decided to do with your life, don’t give up, ever. Keep your head down and keep focused.

Mercy: How do you prepare yourself for a role?
Morgan: I read the script A LOT. And then I try to find where I can relate to the character - similar traits we have and any personal experiences I’ve had related to what what my character is going through. If I can ground the character in as much of “me” as possible, then I find the rest becomes much easier from there.

Mercy: Can you tell us a little bit about WCTH:The Greatest Christmas Blessing and any other upcoming projects you have?
Morgan: The Greatest Christmas Blessing will center around Elizabeth as she gets ready for her new baby and we will also keep up with the rest of the town as they get ready for Christmas. At the same time we will be introduced to Grace and Lillian as they try to fix their broken wagon in order to get to their new orphanage in time for Christmas.
As for new projects, I just wrapped a feature film down in Costa Rica which should be ready sometime in 2019. I’ll also be in an episode of the new season of “The Bold Type” on Freeform and I have a really fun guest starring role (on a show I can’t yet speak about!) that will be out in the new year as well! So I’ll make sure to update as more info is released!

Morgan, thank you so much for taking the time to do this! It was an absolute pleasure to have you on my blog.  Readers, I know you're as excited as I am to see Morgan as Lillian in The Greatest Christmas Blessing, and her continuation of that character in When Hope Calls.  She is a delightful person and a very talented actress who I can't wait to see in the afore-mentioned roles as well as hopefully some other future Hallmark Channel related work.  Make sure to click through the links below and follow Morgan on all her social media!
