Review And Giveaway of The Sea Before Us by Sarah Sundin

Hi everyone, so excited to be back and sharing another review and giveaway with you all!
Sarah Sundin is my personal favorite author and I was so thrilled to receive a copy of her new book for review.  (Some of you may remember I interviewed her last year when one of her books was released).
This book is the start of a new series for Sarah called Sunrise At Normandy. The Sea Before Us follows the story of Lt. Wyatt Paxton and Wren Dorothy Fairfax.

"In 1944, American naval officer Lt. Wyatt Paxton arrives in London to prepare for the Allied invasion of France. He works closely with Dorothy Fairfax, a “Wren” in the Women’s Royal Naval Service. Dorothy pieces together reconnaissance photographs with thousands of holiday snapshots of France—including those of her family’s summer home—in order to create accurate maps of Normandy. Maps that Wyatt will turn into naval bombardment plans. As the two spend concentrated time together in the pressure cooker of war, their deepening friendship threatens to turn to love. Dorothy must resist its pull. Her bereaved father depends on her, and her heart already belongs to another man. Wyatt too has much to lose. The closer he gets to Dorothy, the more he fears his efforts to win the war will destroy everything she has ever loved. The tense days leading up to the monumental D-Day landing blaze to life in this powerful new series."

First I have to say, this book is one of my absolute favorite books of Sarah's!!  I loved every bit of it and finished reading it within just a few hours.

Something some of you may know about me is that I'm kind of a history nerd.  One thing that I've always that was nice is Sarah puts a lot of historical information into each book. The huge plus though is that I know Sarah actually researches these things and doesn't just throw in "facts" that she read somewhere or things that may or may not be true.

The first thing that struck me when I received this in the mail was the cover of the book. It is such a beautiful cover and I have seen several other people mention it online.  So, kudos to whoever designed it! :)

One of the best parts of this book, to me at least, was when Dorothy realized that she didn't have to act like she was someone else. Throughout the book, in her efforts to become Lawrence's girlfriend she wears more makeup, acts completely different than she normally does, and literally becomes a completely different person to try to win his affection.  Then thanks to Wyatt, she realizes that she needs to be herself!  Wonderful job on this part, Sarah.  This is something many girls/women need.

There was nothing in this book that I disliked or would have preferred done differently.  Sarah always knows how to weave a wonderful story and she outdid herself this time!
This is a book that I will be reading over and over again (in fact, I'm already restarting it again this afternoon.)

For those of you interested, you can find Sarah on Facebook and Twitter or you can go visit her website (and buy The Sea Before Us) here.
