Day 22 of When God Calls The Heart!

Hi Hearties!

As some of you know, when I did my review 22 days ago WGCTH I said that I would also do a post on day 20 and day 40.  I apologize for this coming 2 days late...  I've been really busy recently and it slipped my mind.  So I'll just do up to devotional 22 :)

So, let's get started!  What I'll do is share a little bit from each of my favorite devotions so far.

I have to say, in all honesty, that the very first devotion is this book is probably my favorite so far.  I know I went over some of this in my first post, but I thought I'd go over it a little bit again.

It's titled: "Dream Big... Expect Surprises"
This is something that is close to my heart.  God may not give you what you want, when you want it. Or He may not even give what you want. Sometimes, we are on the right track but we have problems along the way or we're not getting quite where we want to be. But in the end you just have to trust God and know that whatever it is, His will is best!

My next favorite would probably have to be chapter 5 : "Life Goes On."
This chapter deal with when something happens to us, whether it be loss of a loved one, health issues, or something as simple as a bad day- we shouldn't give up hope!  And to remind is of that they start off the chapter with Psalms 30:58- "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
As Brian and Michelle put it "But God has a plan for us in every situation.  And its a great plan.....  That doesn't mean life will ever be pain-free, but just as Mary and Caleb learned to cope with their loss with "grace under fire," as Elizabeth put it, so can we."

Next favorite is Chapter 10:  "Regret Me Not"
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." ~Matthew 6:21
"When we reach the end of our lives, none of us will wish we'd spent more time with at the office or worked eighty hours a week to get rich.  Instead, we'll wish we'd had more time with our families and done more for God and others.  The decisions we make each day will determine if we'll reach the end of our days with a bitter or better treasure...." ~Brian and Michelle

How many of us, get too caught up with life, whether it be spending too much time on social media (I'm talking to myself here), getting caught up with work, bills etc., instead of spending time in God's word and time with friends and family?  I know I do.  In the end, those other things don't really matter.  If we don't fix it now, we'll end up regretting it later.

Chapter 12.  "Large And In Charge"
"For what is life but a bittersweet mix of sadness, wonderment, hope and joy?" ~Elizabeth Thatcher
Are you experiencing unrest like the folks of Coal Valley?  Hang on to the promise that there is a time for everything-and know that God is holy, wise, powerful, loving, and good.  Try to give him praise in all your circumstances, and He will carry you in His strong arms all the days of your life.  In other words, He is large and in charge, and bigger then any problems you could ever have."

Chapter 17:  "Take No For An Answer"
" Sometimes through our own stubbornness and force of will, we smash through the wrong doors.  Have you ever done that?  What do you usually find on the other side? a world of hurt, right?  Wrong door, wrong outcome.  The key is, don't tell God what you want; ask Him what He wants.  Right door, right outcome."

Chapter 20:  "Not If ... But When"
"That's life for all of us.  God doesn't promise perpetual happy endings.  But He does promise "and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:" (Isaiah 43:2)........  So when storm clouds are threatening, and we feel like running away like Cody, remember that God will recognize our needs and meet them.  He allows the storm.  Without them, we would never have the blessing of His provision.  And remember, He also the God of blue skies, sunrises, and rainbows...."

I've been so encouraged and inspired throughout reading this devotional and I am so excited to continue it.  Some of my favorite parts of this are the "Prayer From The Heart" section and even more then that the, "What's On Your Heart Today" section- which is an area that has a few questions that will leave you thinking.
While I listed a few of my favorite chapters and some excerpts from Brian and Michelle (as well as my thoughts on a few of them), I honestly love every single one of these devotionals!

Until Day 40.
