Moments With Mercy- Interview With Andrea Brooks!

Hey #Hearties!
As many of you know Andrea Brooks is one of my favorite characters on WCTH.  I did an interview with her last year, and was so excited when I reached out again this year and she agreed to do a second interview.

Now, since most of you know about her I'll just jump right into the interview! :)

Mercy: Can you tell us about any projects you're currently working on?
Andrea:  "I am currently working on a Hallmark movie slated for a spring release. I’m not able to give away the title at this point, but I’ll give you a hint... it’s a very “sweet” project. I’ll be sure to update my Instagram and Twitter with more information when I can. I'm still on Supergirl too, which has been a lot of fun."

Mercy: What is your favorite part of acting in a TV show based in another time period?
Andrea: "As a matter of fact, when I first started acting, my goal was to eventually end up working on time period projects. I love doing research and using my imagination to prepare for roles, and anytime you play a character from the past, these become requirements. In certain ways, working on a show like When Calls the Heart feels like travelling through time. It’s a pretty unique experience and it forces you to think outside of your comfort zone."

Mercy: How would you like to see Faith's character evolve?
Andrea: "Faith is a very smart, capable character. We often see her working, and helping others. As a result, I'm always excited when her personal life is showcased. I love getting to see her relationships both inside and outside of the infirmary evolve."

Mercy: What is a destination you haven't previously traveled to but would like to?
Andrea: "I love to travel! I've never been to Greece. That's on my list right now. I was also in Amsterdam last year, and I'm itching to go back!"

Mercy: What do you think makes When Calls The Heart such a special show?
Andrea: "I think you need a combination of things to fall into place in order for a show to work as well as ours does. You need a committed network, producers, directors, cast, crew, etc. I feel that we really lucked out on all fronts. Going to work is always such a joy, and many of us have become real friends. Of course having a strong, vocal, and loyal fan base like the #Hearties helps bring the show to life when it airs (THANK YOU hearties!!)."

Mercy: If you weren't an actress what would you be?
Andrea: "When I was a kid I told my parents I wanted to be a palaeontologist (because I loved dinosaurs) or a puppeteer (because I was a huge Jim Hensen fan). I still think those are two pretty nifty options."

Mercy: What is one of the funniest or most embarrassing things that has happened while filming?
Andrea: "I don't know if it's just me, but I have a lot of trouble with the doors on our sets! Many of them have old handles, or door knobs, and some of the doors get stuck when you try to open them (especially when it starts to get cold). Let's just say... there are probably handfuls of outtakes of me struggling to open and close doors on When Calls the Heart."

Mercy: You've been on WCTH since season 2.  What has been one of your favorite memories?
Andrea: "I love the episode where Faith and Shane go on a date in season four. The writers had Faith open up about her past and her insecurities in that episode in a way that felt very genuine and real. I also loved the Hamilton infirmary scenes in season two, and basically any scene that involves bringing the town together as I always have a blast hanging out with the entire cast."

Mercy: In what ways are you most like and unlike Faith?
Andrea: "I have a bit of an embarrassing phobia when it comes to needles and sickness. In some ways, I think this role has forced me to get over my fears a little bit. In that regard, we are quite different. On the other hand, Faith isn't very well versed in the kitchen, and I'm not the world's greatest cook. Although I am working on it! Paprika anyone?"

Mercy: Is there a story you can share about meeting a #Heartie that has touched you?
Andrea: "I've received so much amazing fan mail and art over these past few years, and I always feel so touched when someone takes the time to write me. I've had a few young hearties tell me that Nurse Faith has inspired them to pursue careers in nursing or medicine, and that is beyond special to me. I also love hearing from nurses, EMTs, first responders, and medical professionals. I do my best to portray this career in a noble light, and the fact that people have responded to it means so much."

Andrea, thank you so much for doing this! You have such a kind, humble spirit and in my opinion, you are one of the best actresses out there today.
Readers, I hope you enjoyed!

And remember, When Calls The Heart Season 5 premieres February 18th!!
