Moments With Mercy: Interview With Crystal Lowe!

Hey y'all,
A couple of years ago we stumbled onto a show called Signed, Sealed, Delivered and it immediately became one of our favorites!  At that time it was a TV series.  Now instead of episodes we get 2-4 movies a year.  Crystal portrays Rita on this show and right away you can tell what a great actress she is! :)

Without going any further let me tell you a little bit about Crystal and then we'll get started.

"Crystal Lowe was born on 20th January 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. At a young age, Crystal and her family moved to Hong Kong where she grew up a few years of her life and is now fluent in Cantonese. Because of her natural beauty, Crystal then entered such modeling competitions including "Miss Teen Oriental." She has also been a sunshine calendar girl, has done various magazine covers, and has been in various swimsuit competitions. As well as a model, Crystal is also an actress with numerous credits including Final Destination 3 (2006), Snakes on a Plane (2006), Scary Movie 4 (2006), The L Word (2004), and 2006 horror remake Black Christmas (2006), in which she stars as Lauren Hannon alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (her FD3 co-star), Katie Cassidy, and others. As well as an actress and model, Crystal is a spokes-model for Wheel Company "Konig," Sylvester Stallone's health product line "Instone," and Imvasian (modeling/clothing/dvd line). With other numerous credits in plays such as Sampson and Delilah and Noises Off, in which she played lead roles. Crystal is a growing actress and model who has already starred in several movies which are hits, has been used as a model for video-games Need For Speed 2004 and Fight Night 2004, is a spokes-model, has done magazine centrefolds and has won several beauty competitions."

And now for the interview.

Mercy: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Crystal: I have been in the film and TV industry for 20 years. I started professionally acting at 15 and I have most recently moved behind the camera and taken a seat in the directors chair which I love.

Mercy:  In what ways are you most like and unlike Rita?

Crystal: Rita and I share the same heart. We love the same and always try to see the best in people at all times. I would say that I am a little more feisty than Rita, I can bite back once in a while and I don't think Rita would ever bite well.... anyone lol.

Mercy: What are your goals for future "in front of" and "behind the" camera projects?
Crystal:  I would love to continue playing Rita for as long as possible. I would also love to portray someone COMPLETELY different as well. I really love the art of acting and playing as large of a range of characters as possible.
Behind the camera I hope to direct a feature as soon as possible.

Mercy: What is your favorite role that you’ve portrayed?
Crystal:  I would have to say Rita. She has given me so much range in emotion and I have been able to be funny and silly with Geoff (Norman) what more could a girl ask for.

Mercy: Have you ever visited the US? If so what do you think is the biggest difference between Canadians and Americans?
Crystal: I actually live in the US now. Canadians say "Eh" and Americans say "huh" lol but honestly I think we are very similar in many ways. We are all go getters and we all try to be kind and polite for the most part lol.

Mercy: When you first started working on SSD did you think it would be as popular as it is?

Crystal: I had no idea what to expect. I thought I was getting fired after the pilot, I wasn't sure that my portrayal of Rita was what Martha wanted but we worked together and made Rita such a special character.

Mercy: What do you like to do in your free time?
Crystal: I don't ever have a lot of free time, but I am addicted to the gym and when I have a moment it's the first place I go.

Mercy: What’s your favorite snack on set?

Crystal: ohhhhhh I love Sweets!! LOVE anything with sugar it's brutal. Thank God I love the gym. My fav right now are chocolate covered pretzels.

Mercy: What is the easiest and hardest part of playing Rita?

Crystal:  Easiest part is when Norman and Rita have to be silly ( I love that part of filming) and the the hardest part is memorizing everything verbatim (that darn photographic memory!!)

Mercy: What is one thing most people don’t know about?
Crystal: I'm a adrenaline junkie. I'm terrified of heights but I would love to skydive soon. I love anything that gets the fear and blood pumping.

Crystal, Thank you so much for taking time out of your very busy schedule to do this!  It was an honor.  Readers, I hope you enjoyed!  Make sure to go follow Crystal on Twitter and Instagram.

And remember, the new Signed Sealed Delivered airs February 11th!!
